As I viewed several of the motels and hotels available close to York Beach online, I came to the website of Countryview Motel.

After a conversation with my mother who was also accompanying us for our weekend vacation, we realized she had visited this motel quite a few times. Going on her recommendation, we all pooled our money to rent one of the townhouses located right next to the office overlooking the beautiful pool. We were not sorry for this decision.

We checked in around 4:00 PM on June 26, 2009. The staff was very accommodating, immediately giving us more towels and pillows. We unlocked the door and began unpacking the car. I, personally, did not get a chance to look around until I had unpacked the car and grabbed my swimsuit. I was eager to dip in that pool. My boys ages 6 and 8 years old, also donned their suits and off we went to the pool.

The pool was wonderful. It was not an overly large pool, but I found that it was easy to swim and keep close to my boys. The depth of the pool gradually went from 3 1/2 feet to 5 feet. All around the pool was beautiful trees, bushes and flowers along with a white picket fence. There is also several lounging chairs and a few are under an awning for protection from the sun. What made the pool even better is the whole pool lights up and there are romantic lighting in the evenings. Wonderful for a night swim or stroll.

After our swim, we came in for a look around the townhouse. The one we rented had a large living room area with two rocking chairs, writing desk, bureau, tv, two stools and a very comfortable couch that pulled out into a large bed. There was a large kitchen with an almost full size refrigerator, two burner stove and a large sink. There was all the dishes, cups, silverware, cookware and utensils that you could need. Off of the kitchen was a half bath and sliders going out to the backyard where this is a patio, several chairs and a couple of small tables. If you look at the pictures you will see one with a lion fountain, that was in our backyard. The boys had plenty of room to play and roam around without getting in trouble.

The upstairs was just as wonderful. As you go up the stairs there is a quaint small table with a very inviting lighthouse nightlight ready to welcome you upstairs. Next to this is a full bathroom with a very comfortable shower. There is only one bedroom, but it has two queen size beds, a night stand, a bureau, tv, rocking chair and a couple of lamps to make it inviting. Off of the bedroom is sliders that go out to the balcony with two chairs to look out over the grounds in front. There is a picture of the pool from high up, that is taken from our balcony. Note:I just have to say that this townhouse is about 3x the size of our apartment.

We had the opportunity to speak many times with the owners of the motel, who bent over backwards to make sure we had a wonderful time. Several times the manager came over to tell me as I sat on the balcony writing how warm the pool water was at the time. We joked that work comes first. They made is very easy to roam the grounds and to have what ever we needed.

We left on Saturday to go to the Nubble which is near by, then Long and Short Sands. While we were gone, their wonderful chambermaid, Rachel, made sure our townhouse was neat as a pin. She was very friendly and also made sure we had what we needed. They did this in a way that never was a bother, nor was it intruding on our time. They are just very friendly people. On Saturday morning while my mother and I were planning our day over coffee, we had their lovely dog come to the screen door at the kitchen and say hi.

This is one place you can bring your pets, they encourage you to do so. They offer a special exercise place just for your dogs. They equip a doggy poo area that you can pick up your pets 'leavings'.

I give this motel a '10'. My mother is going back in September. My husband and I plan on going back if not this year then definitely next, twice! This is a must go for a wonderful, relaxing motel.
